Below is a personal opinion piece from Shana Griffin, a Sales & Business Development Representative at Michigan Medical Hemp. Shana has a strong background in farming, is passionate about hemp and has been submerged in the military “way-of-life” for years through her interactions and relationships with friends and family. We hope that you enjoy her perspective around hemp and the military.
Let me start by thanking you all for your service to America!
We celebrated Independence Day earlier this month, so I wanted this email to reach you following us all having a little time to reflect on what Independence means to us.
Independence to me is doing things with intention, and the best we can be or do. As I had time to reflect on what independence meant to me, I instantly thought of all you service members, and all the sacrifice’s you make on a daily basis. From being away from your families, to all you have to deal with post service. Ultimate sacrifices. As I enjoyed time with my family, I thought to myself, it would be a injustice for me not to spend a little time writing this email in hopes to inspire someone or something to change.
Let me do a short introduction, my name is Shana Griffin. I’m currently, on a mission to promote & educate on all the benefits of Hemp. Yes, the plant.
I work for a company located here in Michigan called Michigan Medical Hemp. We are eager to teach & get more people involved through education & understanding.
At this point you’re probably wondering what this email is even about. This email is about how every base in America & across all seas could be forever changed with HEMP.
A few examples, that instantly come to mind for me our forever chemicals, (to include our water ways VITIAL) food, sustainability, medicine & FUEL. Having been married once to a Military veteran it was easy for me to identify 5 basic essential to life. We also have 5 fingers & five toes too and 5 senses.
We cannot just sit back and continue doing the things we have for generations. It’s making ourselves and loved ones sick. The chemicals alone on many bases are a huge health hazard.
From my understanding, the reason we have bases are to sustain “life” and to be ready if we are under direct attack. But the reality is we are already under attack. I have done a fair amount of data collection, when it comes to understanding what the bases are doing to be “sustainable“ so far from what I see as a outsider looking in, they are not sustainable and actually quite wasteful.
Sustainable to me is growing or producing the required tools to run without out any resources. Is there a base that has a community garden? Do you think a community garden could be a great asset to not only the food quality, but also from a mental health perspective. Did you know that hemp is a excellent food source? Hemp Hearts have been known to improve focus and cognitive functioning. They contain brain-friendly antioxidants, omega fats, essential vitamins, and minerals. In a nutshell, these tiny seeds are everything you’ll need for brain nutrition, no wonder they’re famously called ‘brain-food’.
Mental health & medicine is another hot topic. In order to sustain LIFE we do sometimes need to have medicine. Hemp is a medicine that can be grown in the soil at the base and readily available for use for many ailments, WHILE also cleaning the soil of FOREVER chemicals. Say what?
We also know that CBD & the hemp plant offers a safer natural alternative to those struggling with PTSD & depression. Post service is real for many.
It’s true. Through the process of phytoremediation, the roots of the hemp plant dig deep into contaminated soil and absorb harmful chemicals as well as any beneficial nutrients that might remain. The polluting elements are removed from the soil and stored in the plant, usually in the leaves, stalk, or stems.
Last and not least FUEL & SUSTAINABILITY. I cannot begin to even imagine the dollars and resources spent in just one day alone for fuel. With the current cost of fuel & the wars that we fight over FUEL & oil it’s NOT sustainable. What is sustainable is growing or producing our own (think hemp biofuel).
This would also add another job or duties within your units and bases alone. More opportunities to learn different things & help reduce emissions to help fight climate change. Did you know Hemp is considered a CARBON negative plant?
These are all VERY hot topics in the current world. Wars that you men and women fight are fought over these very topics. I’m sure many of you would love to still be employed, doing good things for our world and the people we love and work for every day and not have to fight literal wars. By reducing our dependency on other counties we become INDEPENDENT again. What generations before us fought for. Let’s keep fighting, let’s just fight for something different.
Let’s fight for actual freedom. I feel this quote is necessary & fitting: Thomas Jefferson wrote “Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth & protection of the country”. Let’s also not forget he is on the NICKLE 5 cents or senses.
It’s ironic to think that the five basic needs were written by the guy that’s on the 5 cent currency. But it makes sense. The well-rounded Jefferson was also a Renaissance man who was intellectually curious about many things. Staying curious is what we all need to be doing right now. I hope this email makes you curious. As I know every one of you is fighting for your future generations. Let’s make America Brave again.
I encourage you to become BRAVE and seek out how HEMP makes sense to your current position & what you can do to teach someone else about hemp.
Innovation is the key to our success! Hemp is innovation. From the sky’s to the water. Hemp has you covered either way. Let’s get innovating!
Consider this your hemp daily briefing. HEMP = Helping Educate Misinformed People.
God bless you ALL!
