Between pharmaceuticals, textiles, and the beauty industry, the demand for hemp has never been higher – until now. Dun Agro Hemp Group, Inc., Europe’s premier prefab hemp builder, is expanding to accommodate the steadily rising demand for hemp homes in the United States. The company will establish a large-scale commercial hemp processing facility in south-central Indiana, with plans for another facility in the western United States. Alfred Dun, founder and CEO of Dun Agro, states that the facility will open in late 2023 and will process between 11 and 13 tons of hemp stalks per hour using proprietary equipment. Two model homes using materials from the Netherlands will be constructed along with Dun Agro’s new American headquarters.
Dun Agro prefab home kits include walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs. The panels are made from hempcrete, a durable construction material made from hemp. The natural building materials used in Dun Agro homes are said to sequester 14.5 tons of carbon in a 1,300 square foot house. The hempcrete homes can be assembled with cranes in as few as three days. The company plans to design larger hempcrete houses to accommodate the tastes of the American homebuyer. In addition to the hempcrete home kits, Dun Agro manufactures general structural insulated panels with hemp fiber insulation.
In Holland, Dun Agro sources their hemp from their sustainable, vertically-integrated 28 year hemp operation surrounding their headquarters. Additionally, they contract 71 local growers to cultivate 3,800 additional acres. In the United States, Dun Agro will count on you, the local farmer, to source their hemp. The company plans to coordinate with regional farmers to grow between 15,000 and 25,000 acres of hemp to supply their production. Midwestern farmers will soon benefit from lucrative opportunities to supply Dun Agro’s substantial hemp needs.
According to Dun, the United States faces a “learning curve” when it comes to hemp production, as American farmers are used to dealing in commodities and not high-profit, value-added finished goods such as hempcrete homes. Michigan Medical Hemp is here to help you get ahead of the curve. As pioneers in developing sprayable hempcrete applications, we understand how to cultivate great hemp for hempcrete production. Our hearty, fast-growing hemp seeds are bred for the most efficient fiber production traits and cost less than $0.60 per seed. With the arrival of Dun Agro, hempcrete construction will revolutionize the way homes are built in America. Are you ready to meet the growing demand for hemp?
