THINGS A FARMER SHOULD CONSIDER

May 10, 2022

Research is always the best way to start any endeavor. Research your product – which we have taken off your shoulders and done for you. Read up on the strains needed for your own marketable products, the growing cycle, cultivation, and test for soil amendment needs. Look into the size acreage you want to initially start with and investigate potential buyers of your products after harvest.

Get advice from other hemp farmers, not only in your area, but reach out to other hemp agricultural farmers on the web, join social groups where you can swap tips and advice. Sometimes the best advice is the one that comes unwarranted from a perfect stranger, explore the industry with open eyes and ears.

Come up with a budget and a business plan. Do not start out in the industry without thoroughly writing out your objectives and economical plan. Thoughts to consider before the investment:

-How large of a crop are you seeking to grow?

-How much are you willing to invest in a good seed?

-How much time do you want to devote to the hemp farm vs. your other agricultural investments?

-Do you have the proper equipment?

Remember to start a smaller risk as opposed to converting all your acreage to hemp. At least in your first year, until you can see your gains and possible corrections you may need to change for a larger yield in future years.

Invest in a seed that germinates from a reputable seed company. You must feel comfortable with the company and be able to ask questions and have a personable relationship with the company, unlike a business online that lacks the social interaction and ability to provide physical interpretations in your own area.

Strongly consider hiring an Agronomist who will help you test and prep soil and make sure it is conducive to hemp growth. An Agronomist will assist in the best irrigation methods (if needed) and help you design your crop for maximum cultivation. A professional can also advice you on the regulations, certifications, testing requirements and licenses that are required. Although beneficial, hiring a professional is not necessary.

We want to make sure that you thrive in the industry. A thriving crop for you is a thriving crop for us, as we rely heavily on positive feed back and a welcome review to future investors.
